Sometimes simplicity creates the most interesting and relaxing motion. In this piece I've started with two simple circles. I mounted and balanced them so that their center of balance is very near the rim. The mechanism pushes these offset wheels in opposite directions at varying rates of speed creating a changing pattern of motion and a "flash" as they overlay exactly.

Crescent makes a very quiet clicking sound as the small pawl on each wheel falls against a brass pin. The sound is part of the general ambiance the sculpture creates.
